During the hurricane, many properties of residents, townspeople and fishermen were damaged. The rains started at around 7:30 pm local time on Tuesday evening in the wilayats of North El Batinah and were accompanied by hail and high winds. According to Omani meteorology, sea waves have also increased in height. The northern parts of the province, including Shinas, Liwa, Sohar and Saham, received maximum rainfall, which overcrowded some valleys in Sohar. These are Wadi al-Jizzi in Al-Sagh, Wadi Falaj Al-Kabail and Wadi Sahban, as well as Wadi al-Mahmum in the Saham wilayat. Public and private property was damaged as uprooted trees fell on cars and house walls, causing them to collapse. Buildings currently under construction, as well as the Al Maha oil station in Saham, were also damaged by strong winds.
A number of cars were also submerged by the rains, while many others have been carried away by wadis in which rainwater were flowing a torrential speeds. Some parts of the governorate, however, reported milder weather: people in Al Hamra experienced moderate rains, while Izki also saw lesser rainfall. Rain is expected across many parts of the country until at least Friday, with hailstones also predicted in some areas.
