When I get a new dye, I like to dye a small amount of yarn to get a feeling for how pigmented the dye is, how it behaves while dyeing and whether it bleeds or not. I don't always film these dyeing sessions because they are all very similar. I decided to overdye the silver grey with some dark navy. I wanted to get a very light coating of dark navy, so that some of the grey would still be visible. Well I over did the dark navy! I chucked in a 10g skein of fluorescent lemon to help absorb some of that dark navy. I wasn't expecting some of the yellow dye to come out of the yarn and bind to the silver grey/dark navy skein. The results, however, are fantastic! I wonder if I could deliberately replicate this...

Fibre reactive dyes can be used on plant based fibre and animal based fibres. Acid dyes can only be used on animal based fibres.
