Thanks to Norfolk's raucous folk band Rattlebox laying down their instruments and singing Dick Shannon's 'The Auld Triangle', here is a test using a variant of double mid-side stereo recording, where the two mid mics face forward and, having different polar patterns, can be blended in post to create different virtual polar patterns. And, yes, it was extremely windy down in the woods - about 20mph wind.
