If I’m a client of SocGen, JP Morgan, or any bank and I want access to a tokenized asset, I’d probably want to use a stable coin. That’s because if I’m dealing with Ethereum or Bitcoin, I’m exposed to a lot of currency risk and volatility in settlement.

Do you see the future where the underlying asset might be on-chain or off-chain, but most transactions happen using stable coins?

I hope so—that’s why we launched our own stable coin and got the proper licenses in Europe. We see great value in offering our clients a stable coin they can use to transact with us or any other counterparty.

These stable coins are fully transferable. Unlike securities, where you have to maintain off-chain registers for things like tax reporting or paying coupons, these stable coins can be freely transferred. Anyone can use them and can also come back to us to request redemption. We think this is one of the best use cases for blockchain
