ChatGPT has been in the headlines for a few months now. Recently gaining attention for "passing" the bar exam, and "passing" all three steps of the USMLE.

Now if you read those articles a bit more closely you realize that the conditions were set specifically to allow this chatbot to have success. These tests are designed to challenge human students and at the margin are working on our weaknesses as humans, in particular our memory.

That being said I suspect that ChatGPT will be used as an AI model for medical purposes. Products will use the ChatGPT API's and promote themselves as an AI medical tool.

Here I outline some of the more serious problems with ChatGPT as a medical tool and why it's not ready to be used both as a medical research tool or an artificial intelligence medical education tool.
