What is a Leica M good for?

A discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of the Leica M camera system, given the current popularity and high prices of film cameras. Some of these points are applicable to the digital Leica M system too, and I try to highlight use-case scenarios that take advantage of Leica's strengths as well as others that don't. As such an expensive camera brand, making an informed decision should be more important than hype.
