Growing A Food Forest with Chop and Drop Mulching

I started my swale food forest about 5 years ago with the digging of the swale then planting out a number of plants. I've slowly been increasing my plantings to not only produce food but provide a ready source of mulch. As time as gone by the support, mulch trees are getting huge and it's hard keeping up with them all.

In today's video I harvest the mulch in both my peach tree guild and my apricot guild. It's a very satisfying process because I know it is so beneficial to building the soil which in turn helps grow our productive trees. Down the track the system will act like a forest and look after itself but in the meantime I'll help move it along - forests grow on fallen forests - I'm just helping the forest fall more quickly :)
