Описание к видео Arizona DACA recipients welcome Biden-Harris win

(9 Nov 2020) FOR CLEAN VERSION SEE STORY NUMBER: 4296616

After Joe Biden was projected the winner of the Presidential election on Saturday, Arizona supporters of his candidacy gathered in small, modest celebrations around Phoenix.
The Associated Press projected Biden the winner in Arizona, where he's maintained a narrow edge over Donald Trump.
Aliento, a Phoenix-based immigrant aid organization led by undocumented immigrant youth, estimates it helped activate more than 25,000 voters to go to the polls. Aliento's leader says many of newly enfranchised have family members or friends who have Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival immigration status or DACA.
Araceli Lopez, 18, of Phoenix says her family has a mix of undocumented immigrants and US citizens. Her vote for Joe Biden was motivated by various hardline immigration bills passed by the Arizona state legislature and the various actions by President Trump's administration.
"When I first heard this, my heart was finally able to breathe. This was just such a stressful week because these elections carry so much, so much with human rights especially with immigration," Lopez said.
Deyanira Garcia is a DACA recipient who arrived in the US more than 20 years ago, as an infant. She says she too breathed a sigh of relief when Biden was declared the winner.
"I feel like I haven't quite processed it yet, that we have another president elect," Garcia said. "I know that the next four years are not gonna be the same as they had been the past four years. So I am really looking forward to that."
