Power BI DAX Tutorial Moving Rolling Average + Dynamic Parameter Input Drop Down Box + Fiscal Month

You'll learn how to create Rolling Average / Moving Average using Power BI Quick Measure, which you can use if your financial calendar is the same as calendar month. I will also show you a work around to cover situations if your financial calendar is not the same as calendar month. In this video, you will follow along with the journey of how I solved a tricky problem of calculating monthly rolling averages in Power BI with a financial reporting calendar.

The company I worked for had a unique financial calendar that didn't align with the regular calendar month, which made the DAX solution much more complicated, as it makes standard time intelligence DAX functions and Power BI Quick Measure unusable.

I spent a lot of time researching online on how to calculate monthly rolling averages or monthly moving averages that works with financial calendar instead of normal calendar, but couldn't find a solution that met my needs.

So, I took matters into my own hands and wrote a DAX formula from scratch. I'll show you step-by-step how I did it, including creating a customized date table with financial year and month, and adding a financial month counter column.
