AQUEDUCT RACETRACK
November 2, 1985

New York played host to the second Breeders’ Cup and the Juvenile got the event off to a rousing start when Tasso nipped Storm Cat at the wire. Over the next 20 years, Storm Cat would become one of the world’s most influential sires of Thoroughbreds. Remarkable performances were provided by Precisionist, who won the Sprint following a nearly four-month layoff; the English filly Pebbles defeating male rivals in the Turf and the 3-year-old Proud Truth winning the Classic over Gate Dancer. Jockey Jorge Velasquez rode both Precisionist and Proud Truth to victory.
