About this version:
I have always loved this hymn in it's original form. The majesty of the subject, and the movement of music sometimes were so powerful they were frightening.
I began work on this new score for the music because I had heard this in my head for years and finally decided to see if it actually worked with what I heard in my head. Though I loved the old tune and form, I felt something new would present these majestic lyrics to a new generation.
Also because of the subject of Isaiah chapter 6, I felt I need to add my own personal emotion to the song as I can identify with What Isaiah may have felt when he saw the Lord in His glory as His train filled the temple and the temple shook and filled with smoke.
Like Isaiah, I am a man of unclean lips and desperately needed the burning coal from the alter to touch my lips. As one of the seraphim said "Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged"
Many times while recording this, it was difficult to even get through a line without breaking into a cry. The faint vision of the Lord in His glory appeared as wisps of beauty and I was overcome with His majesty. I sincerely hope it moves you as it did me.
Also I thank my beautiful wife Kathryn, for pushing me to this!
