According to estimates provided by the American Veterinary Medical Association, there is a dog in at least one-third of homes across the United States. Additionally, two separate studies conducted among hospital patients in 2002 and 2015 showed that over 50% of patients had dogs as pets at home.
Over half of those patients shared that they let their pets sleep in their bedroom while they rest; whereas over 40% of them believe that their furry friends helped them get a good night’s sleep. A study conducted at the Mayo Clinic included these statistics in their research so they could evaluate if human sleep is affected by the presence of dogs in the bedroom.
