This film is part of the Timeless Form project —
an ongoing observation of architecture, landscape, and time.

Sri Lanka is a land carved by ancient metamorphic stone and shaped by water.
Reservoirs built centuries ago still breathe with the island’s irrigation wisdom,
and water remains inseparable from daily life — a place for cleansing, reflection,
and connecting with the energy of the land.

Wind traces the edges of old architecture.
Boundaries soften: inside and outside, sacred and ordinary, light and shadow.
Like Japan’s engawa, these thresholds hold space for silence and contemplation.

This film explores the architecture of landscape and time through the works
and philosophies shaped by Geoffrey Bawa and his successors —
where nature is not a backdrop, but an origin.

Filmed at Heritance Kandalama overlooking Sigiriya,
with cooperation from architects and institutions contributing to Bawa’s legacy.

スリランカは、古い変成岩に刻まれ、水によって形づくられた土地です。
数百年前から続く貯水池や灌漑システムは今も呼吸を続け、
水は浄化や瞑想の場として、日常と切り離せない存在です。

風は建築の輪郭をなぞり、
内と外、聖と俗、光と影 — 境界は静かに溶け合います。
それは日本の「縁側」とも響き合う、静けさのための余白です。

本作は、ジェフリー・バワとその思想を継ぐ建築家たちの仕事を通じ、
“自然を背景ではなく、起源とする建築” の思想を探る映像です。

シギリヤを望むヘリタンス・カンダラマにて撮影。
スリランカでバワの遺産を守り、継承する多くの方々の協力によって完成しました。
