Nicolas de GRIGNY, Kyrie en taille à 5 - Thierry Mechler, organ

The Plein-Jeu en taille from the Kyrie is the solemn opening of the Mass of Grigny, one of the best composer of the french classical period. Nicolas de Grigny (1672-1703) died at the age of 31. Bach studied intensely his organ book when he copied it in 1713.

The church of Saint Jean Baptiste in Chaource is home to many exceptional works of art. The organ is undoubtedly one of the jewels. Built in 1696, by Louis Lebé, this instrument has been the object of a scrupulous restoration which allows it, thanks to its uneven temperament, to "sound" as it did in the 17th century. Its interest is such that it is the object of great activity. In particular, an international festival brings together organists from all over the world who come to discover its unique style.
