This video explain Aguiyi Ironsi regime and the mistakes that led to his death through a military coup. On January 15, 1966, a very unusual event happened in Nigeria.
This was a military coup d’état that brought the First Republic to an abrupt end and resulted in the killing of many politicians and military leaders.
The next day, Major General Johnson Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi, the General Officer Commanding of the Nigeria Army assumed power as the first military head of state.
But, about 6 months into is regime, Ironsi made some mistakes that led to a violent reprisal that ended his life and his regime.
