Extract name from an email address in Excel. This video looks at how to extract names from email addresses in Excel using formulas. The LEFT function is used to extract all characters before the '@' symbol, and the SUBSTITUTE function is used to tidy the result up.

The structure of an email address can vary so this formula may need to be adapted to your needs.

The '@' symbol is a useful delimiter character for our formulas. We can rely on the name appearing to the left of this symbol.

In this example the SUBSTITUTE function has been used to tidy up the result and replace the '.' With a space. This can be used to present the name in the format you desire.
