✅ What is Zabbix:

1. Zabbix is an open-source, enterprise-class software tool for monitoring networks, servers, virtual machines, cloud services, etc.

2. It collects metrics, triggers alerts, displays dashboards, supports distributed monitoring, auto-discovery, and more.

🔄 What’s New (or Planned) in 8.0:

1. The PRE-RELEASE already includes — or is paving the way for — some important changes compared to 7.x. Some of these are already implemented, others are in progress according to the roadmap.

2. Under-the-hood improvements — e.g. refactored UI forms (host prototypes now use MVC + modal windows), inline validation, improved frontend behaviors.

3. Better monitoring templates and support — new templates for devices and services, improved default fonts and UI themes, better map/graph/widget behaviors (e.g., clustering of hosts on maps, improved rendering) to support more devices.

4. A shift toward “observability”: according to the project roadmap, 8.0 aims to go beyond classic time-series monitoring — enabling ingestion/handling of structured data (logs, traces, telemetry) via integrations such as OpenTelemetry, better event correlation, scalable back-ends (thinking of large-scale deployments), and network-flow / stream monitoring.

5. Improved scalability and enterprise readiness: The upcoming 8.0 LTS (Long-Term Support) is planned to support large environments and new use cases (cloud, observability, high load).
