This is a 1969 Yamaha C3. The C stands for conservatory; so this is Yamaha's top of the line piano at this time... They have a G series which is right below this, the G series was kind of like for the general public. The Yamaha C series was for conservatories and studios and teaching studios and stuff like this, but everybody loved the C-series so so much, and everybody gravitated towards them so much so that my family piano, that I
grew up playing was also a Yamaha C3 as well.

These pianos have a really lightning fast action, they're performance level pianos, they are pretty bright and pretty powerful carrying pianos, because they were in conservatories they needed to make them really loud so they'd carry to the back of the audience. But that being said this one is in 1969 so this piano is old enough to have a wet sand casting plate it does not have a v-pro plate or a vacuum pack or vacuum process plate design, as you've learned if you've watched some of our other videos, which means that this panel is going to be a bit more warm.

This is the same plate style as a Steinway or Mason & Hamlin, or any of the german pianos. This piano is a lot more warm, it does have power as you can just as you just heard, and the action is really lightning fast and responsive. The finish is in great shape too! We totally rub this piano out. This is a satin finish if you can't tell from the video, but this finish we the way that this works is these pianos are actually sprayed gloss first. It's a shiny finish and then they go through and rub it out with four out steel wool and that's what knocks it down to this kind of satin finish, which is really helpful for damage if your kid scratches it or something like, this you literally get four out steel wool and you can rub out the scratch right in your own home.
