The Pima County Sheriff's Department has responded to reports of a possible ransom note in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of "TODAY" show host Savannah Guthrie.

Tuesday afternoon, TMZ reported they had received what appeared to be a ransom note demanding money that included details about what Guthrie was reportedly wearing when she disappeared and damage to her home.

The note requested that payment in Bitcoin be sent to a specific Bitcoin address, according to TMZ.

In response to the reporting by TMZ, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said, "We are aware of reports circulating about possible ransom note(s) regarding the investigation into Nancy Guthrie. We are taking all tips and leads very seriously. Anything that comes in goes directly to our detectives, who are coordinating with the FBI."

The sheriff's department also confirmed that DNA samples collected from the Arizona home have been confirmed to belong to Guthrie.

Detectives are working to access information from Guthrie's pacemaker and her security cameras.

Guthrie, 84, was reported missing on Sunday after she failed to show up for a church event. The sheriff's department believes she may have been taken "against her will" from the residence.
