British Rail Network SouthEast-Ex London Underground Standard Stock on the Isle of Wight 1988

Описание к видео British Rail Network SouthEast-Ex London Underground Standard Stock on the Isle of Wight 1988

This week, January 2021, sees the old ex London Transport 38 tube retire from service on the Isle of Wight Island Line, after a working life of 80 years! Happily their replacements are ex District Line D Stock, so keeping up the tradition of the island using second hand stock. Unlike the previous two ex LT trains that was used, these are not tube sized stock but full sized surface stock, the first time such a stock has been used since steam days in 1966! Here we go back to May 1988 and see the Standard Stock at work at Brading and Ryde St John's Road. Back then Brading still had it's passing loop & signal box in use, and the service still ran with three trains off peak, and a lot longer than the 2 car trains of recent years......If you liked the video please subscribe to my channel, there are lots more transport & quirky vids to upload!
