How to Drill Down to Reveal the Details for a Pivot Table Summary Report

Описание к видео How to Drill Down to Reveal the Details for a Pivot Table Summary Report

Whenever you - or someone else - questions the result of a Pivot Table summary cell, you can quickly "drill down" to reveal the details. All you have to do is "double-click" a value cell in the Pivot Table.

This action creates a new worksheet in your workbook. However, understand that if you need to edit any individual cells, you do this in the underlying data set and NOT in the Pivot Table or the new worksheet created for your "drill down."

The final step is to "Refresh the Data" in your Pivot Table.

The reason that a Pivot Table can adjust so quickly to structural changes is - each Pivot Table uses a "virtual snapshot" of the underlying data set. This is a key concept to grasp in onrder to understand how Pivot Tables operate.
