The OCG's Rush Duel format is a unique spin on Yu-Gi-Oh. Like Speed Duels and Duel Links, Rush Duels feature a smaller field and fewer summoning mechanics. However, Rush Duel cards are significantly different compared to their OCG and TCG counterparts, and you can even Normal Summon as many times per turn as you want.

Unfortunately there's no sign of Rush Duels making their way to TCG regions, so we'll have to settle for admiring the format from afar. Luckily there's plenty to admire!

From fresh takes on classic cards, to brand-new mechanics and summoning styles, the Rush Duel format's brimming with incredible cards. There's actually an impressively high number of cards in the format – over 1500 – so I've curated some of my favorites to give you a taste of what we're missing out on.

Rush Duel cards are entirely separate from the OCG and TCG. Unlike other alternative formats, Rush Duel regularly receives brand-new cards. That said, there are plenty of returning cards from the OCG.

Classic monsters like Curse of Dragon and Cannon Soldier can be played alongside completely new cards like Cannon Soljersey and Dragonic Escape .

Some of the OCG and TCG cards that make their way into Rush Duels earn the 'Legend' icon. Legend cards are restricted to one copy per deck for each type of card. You can run a maximum of one Legend monster, spell, and trap for a total of three Legend cards in your deck. You're probably familiar with most of the Legend cards in Rush Duels–think cards like Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Negate Attack, Dark Hole, Monster Reborn, Trap Hole, and Raiza the Storm Monarch.

All cards brought over from other card games get a visual update thanks to the new card layout and color scheme in Rush Duels. Red-Eyes Black Dragon has a much brighter card art, for example. There are also alt art versions of classic cards, especially when you start looking at Over Rush Rares. We'll get into that in a bit, but there's another category of cards I want to look at first: cards inspired by existing OCG and TCG cards
