It's hard to pick a favorite Beatles album because they were all so revolutionary culturally and artistically, but for some reason Abby Road seems to hold steady for me as my favorite Beatles record. It has a sophisticated maturity and gentleness to it that I always seem to resonate with. It has a very dry minimal/Cozy pillow-y sounding production which is so easy and pleasant to listen to. It also has my favorite Beatles song and guitar solo on Something. This is definitely George Harrison's masterpiece. The album is also significant because it would be the last album the band would record together. I can't help but conclude that Abby Road's timed release sealed the band's fate to become the greatest band of all time. Usually bands breakup because of low album sales or subpar recordings but the Beatles managed to release a perfect blockbuster album before the announced breakup, essentially leaving on an extreme high note.
