At 3 months of age, most babies are eating about 3 to 4 ounces every 3 to 4 hours, but some eat a little bit less and some eat a little bit more. You mentioned that your baby boy seemed to be eating about this much until recently when he started eating 2 to 2 1/2 ounces about every 3 hours. And that can be typical. Babies go through growth spurts where they will eat a ton, and then it kind of evens out a little bit till they go through another growth spurt and they start to eat a ton again. So the most important thing is that he's happy, he's healthy, and he's gaining the appropriate amount of weight as determined by your pediatrician. And you also mentioned that you've been watching the amount of wet diapers that he's having each day, and he should have at least 6, and he should be having regular bowel movements. As long as you're seeing these things, those are good signs.

But because you're concerned, I do recommend that you talk with your pediatrician, because they can ask you more specific questions about your observations and concerns, and then perform an exam on him, make sure he's gaining the right amount of weight, and based on all of that information, decide if further investigation or treatments are warranted for him.
