Self Suspension (Setar and electronics improvisation) - Ali Kalantary

I have been told that the best way to draw a picture of an object is to look at it upside down. It is in this case that we let go of every judgment and preconceptions, observe totally detached, focus on the framing lines and discover everything with a beginner's mind.

Whirling as it turns my body into a vortex, in which I can extinguish the flames of preconception, is another way of observing fully detached.
It is in whirling that I can see everything as a suspended continuum of a unifying essence and hopefully let go of anything that I think is "protecting" me.

Self suspension is an #improvised experience in which I tried to pursuit my curiosity around exploring the intersection of #Iranian #traditional music played on my beloved #Setar with #ambient and #electronic music atmospheres (maybe from an upside down perspective)
