Mohican State Forest Park and Pack Ohio, USA

Mohican State Forest north of Columbus, Ohio, USA has ten sites they call, "Park and Pack." You park your car and backpack into the sites. The closest is about 1/4 mile (1/2 km) and the furthest about 1 mile (1.6 km) from the closest parking lot. A tornado went through the area a couple years ago forcing all of the sites to be closed. Recently sites 1 - 7 were reopened.

This day hike was to examine the opened sites to verify their appropriateness for our annual campout in February. We set up camp on a Saturday morning and take a significant day hike before dinner around a warm campfire.

This link takes you to the map provided by the state forest. You need to print your own map because they are rarely available onsite. This link is to the same map that is available when the ranger stations are open. Note that site 6 appears to have been moved because of the devastation caused by the tornado.
