The First Man CURED of Type 1 Diabetes | VX-880

In my previous video (   • Can Vertex Pharmaceuticals and Dougla...  ), I talked about a potential cure for type 1 diabetes with the ongoing phase ½ clinical trial of VX-880 from Vertex Pharmaceuticals (VRTX). In this video, we are going to hear about the story of the first trial participant, Brian Shelton, who says he feels cured after living with diabetes for almost 50 years. Type 1 diabetes is a chronic disease in which the insulin-making cells in the pancreas are destroyed, forcing a person to be dependent on insulin -- delivered via shots or an insulin pump -- to stay alive.
