What is Investing? (1:10)
Investing is basically:
• Putting money in companies you understand & trust
• Companies use that money to grow
• In the long-run, as companies grows, your money grows as well.
Bob invests, be like Bob.

Importance of Investing (2:23)
If you don't find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die. - Warren Buffet
Most of us work a 9-5 job & we're bound by the limitations of 24-hour days. When we draw a salary that's ADDITION. With investing, we're talking about MULTIPLICATION by getting your money to work for you. You're utilizing each company's "9-5" to earn more money without lifting a finger.
You're also having the 8th wonder of the world - COMPOUND INTEREST - on your side so that you don't place a financial burden on the next generation.

Before Investing (3:31)
In order to reap the full benefits of investing & compound interest, the first rule is that you never interrupt the compounding train unnecessarily. You don't want to make short-term decisions or have unexpected events derail your long-term goals. Make sure you have the following in place first.

• No Bad Debt
Any debt (student loans, credit card interest) that charges an EXORBITANT amount of interest (greater than 10%) should be cleared first.
• Insurance
In the event you're unable to draw a salary & provide for your dependents, you need to have sufficient insurance coverage.
• Emergency + Short-term funds
Emergency funds are typically 6-12 months of your EXPENDITURE while short-term funds are anything that you would need for the near future.
• Get your mindset right
Investing is a LONG-TERM activity. E.g. You don't put in $1000 & take it out after a few months. Neither do you get a $100 return (10%) & complain that it's such a measly amount.
Investing is NOT A GET-RICH-QUICK SCHEME. If you've seen people on social media posting millions earned in a short period of time, do yourself a favor & don't waste your time & energy comparing or having FOMO. They've either put in the due diligence to invest in the next big thing OR they were gambling & were lucky to come out on top. They're the minority & we CANNOT think that's the best or only way to make riches. You could be one of them, but you'd have to be willing to stomach huge risk OR you could follow the collective wisdom of past & invest soundly.

4 Levels of Investing (5:30)
Each level varies in the amount of calculated risk, effort required & returns.

1. No Investing
This is the only level that you should not be in. You're not creating your own compounding train. So basically no upside and a whole lot of downside.

2. Robo-advisors (Stashaway, Syfe, Endowus, Autowealth)
These are digital platforms that gather input such as your financial goals & risk appetite & use algorithms to create & manage your portfolio. They're convenient, inexpensive & doesn't require large capital but you're & at the mercy of the algorithms.
If you're looking to start investing straightaway with small capital, don't have time/don't intend to learn how to invest, this fire & forget investment style using Robo-advisors is for you.

3. ETFs (VOO, SPY, SPLG) & Index Funds (VFINX, SWPPX, FXAIX)
The main concept is that you're putting your money into a basket of companies across multiple industries which means automatically diversify your investment. You need to research what you're buying into & get a brokerage account to make the purchases yourself. It's generally less expensive & you have the flexibility to decide where you want to allocate your money.
If you want more control over your portfolio & are aiming to increase your investing knowledge, investing into ETFs/Index Funds are for you.

4. Individual Stock Picks
You are creating your own portfolio from scratch by cherry-picking stocks & have the most flexibility to decide the level of diversification you want. Generally, you'll have greater degrees of returns / losses & requires the highest effort.
If you want to manage your own portfolio & be a learned investor, this level is for you.

This is to manage a real-estate portfolio as I don't have time to study the intricacies of the Real Estate market.
Level 4: Interactive Brokers
I've created my own US equities portfolio as I'm willing to put in more time & effort in markets/industries I understand in aims of getting a higher return
