"Silly People" from A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC performed by George Lee Andrews and Garn Stephens during the show's Boston tryout. From an audience recording of the first preview on January 23, 1973. The song was cut and Garn Stephens was soon replaced by D'Jamin Bartlett.

"Silly People" was reinstated for the 1988 New York revival and used for a short time in the 2008 Menier Chocolate Factory revival. In "Sondheim on Music: Minor Details and Major Decisions", Sondheim admits, "Every time I've ever cut anything from a show there's a good reason. I can't stand when people restore stuff and want to restore stuff. There's a very good song in Night Music called 'Silly People,' sung by Frid, the servant. It says what the show's about—and I like the song a lot—but the reason we cut it is because it's a character you don't care about at that point in the show. And, of course, I get requests quite often from companies asking to restore this song—partly because it gives the actor who plays this tiny part a chance to sing, and partly because it's a pretty song and it seems relevant.
