Somalia Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Project Video

Описание к видео Somalia Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Project Video

As one of the most vulnerable countries to climate impacts, the Government of Somalia is making efforts to tackle this urgent challenge. Somalia faces low adaptive capacity and relies heavily on climate-sensitive sectors like rain-fed agriculture. In response, the government has developed several climate-related policies and strategies, but the need for greater financial support remains critical.

With climate finance from Vertical Climate Funds (VCFs) making up only 1% of total inflows in 2019 and 2020, Somalia faces a significant gap in funding for climate-resilient development and adaptation. To address this, Somalia embarked on a two-year Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Project, aimed at strengthening the Federal Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, enhancing its role as the National Designated Authority (NDA), and building a robust GCF Country Programme and project pipeline.

Join us as we dive deeper into the impacts of this project and what it means for Somalia's future in climate adaptation and resilience.
