The texture is the feel of a surface. Now often in art when we draw or paint we are taking a 3D object and making it 2D. So we need to create the illusion of texture. So texture in the art can either be real or implied. On a sculpture or installation artwork, it is an actual texture, you can literally stroke your hand over the sculpture and feel all the bumps. Often in drawings or paintings, the texture is only implied.
