This video shows how to upgrade the factory Harmon Kardon subwoofer to a custom box with a Rockford Fosgate 12” shallow mount dual voice coil subwoofer in a 2024 VW Golf R (MK8).

I used the same subwoofer box I made for my previous 2016 VW Golf R and updated the wiring harness to match the new car.

This will fit the MK7 and MK8 Golf R and fit flush mounted under the rear hatch floor. The wiring harness is a little different in each model and requires a different plug. Otherwise it’s all the same and works in either car.
