Flat and Hollow - Wood Turning Oak

Описание к видео Flat and Hollow - Wood Turning Oak

Welcome welcome! In this video I make a short and flat hollow form piece from oak with a wood turning lathe.

Mounted between centres on a drive spur to shape a tenon and the lower half of the outside. Next, mounted on the tenon, continued shaping of the top using a 3/8ths bowl gouge.
The middle was removed with a Forstner bit and further hollowed out using a swan neck 8mm round carbide tool, also a slightly larger 12mm round carbide tool to clean the base inside. I cut a lot of this out as it doesn't look like much is happening for a long time, just a lot of stop, start, stop, start, with the air line in between.

Sanded up to 240 grit before Chestnut Products Cellulose sanding sealer and finally a TrueGrit abrasive paste polish to a shine.
Reverse mounted on a jam chuck to remove the tenon and clean the foot of the piece.

Finally, applying my makers mark I over burned it a little, managed to sand most of it away so now hardly noticeable. If you know, you know!
I also forgot to take my watch off again.. don't come at me!haha.
