In this video, I have share information about the famous land mark of Chennai which is Marina beach. The beach is full of fun and lot of interesting facts surrounding it. I would like to start sharing information about this wonderful beach in India on posting this video on what should be done in marina beach chennai and what not.

In 2004, Indian ocean Tsunami did strike the beach resulting in death of millions of people across the world.

In Chennai Tsunami, nearly 150 to 300 people lost the life and are still living in the painful memories of the Tsunami which hit Tamil nadu coast. You can check with other Videos related to Tsunami in chennai, Tamil nadu . Especially the one with Thiruvallur valluvar salai in Kanyakumari.

Almost 8000 people lost their life in this Indian ocean Tsunami. On checking the facts, relating to Tsunami, I found more people are dying every year due to RIP currents across the beaches in Chennai and beaches in Tamil nadu and other parts of India. Chennai marina is one of the longest and most beautiful beach in Chennai. But, it also leads to death of most people drowned in sea in the entire nation. Which is a worrisome Factors.

On taking a deeper look into what is causing the death of many in one of the beautiful beach in India is the Rip currents or also known as onshore currents.

Some of the places in Marina beach are very vulnerable, especially Anna Square, Kannagi Statue, Coovum Marina beach intersection, Vivekananda Illa or Vivekananda House, Marina beach swimming pool.

These places are extremely vulnerable due to the continental slope and continental shelf. Very deep and vertical slopes in some places in causing the water to create RIP Currents in these areas resulting in lot of death. Many people here are washed away by the sea into deeper ocean and many are carried away by the big tidel waves after they are sucked by the RIP currents.

These rip currents can be clearly seen from places like light house chennai and other high rise building near the marina beach, chennai or even the Light house MRTS railway station.

I have listed out few factors like lack of waves, coloration of sea water and floating marine plants in water could be the dangers signs of presence of Rip currents in the area. Please ensure you pay attention to some of these factors before you venture into beach.

Government and Tamilnadu police is taking lots of efforts to save valuable life across the coast of Tamilnadu and along the shores of marina beach.
