Jason Henzell tells us about his fathers filming career, which started with the first live broadcast of JBC Television and moving to directing the first Jamaican feature film, The Harder They Come (1972) from 10A Kingston, Jamaica.

The Harder They Come starring reggae superstar Jimmy Cliff, is the story of a rural Jamaican musician who journeys to the city of Kingston in search of fame and fortune. Pushed to desperate circumstances by shady record producers and corrupt cops, he finally achieves notoriety—as a murderous outlaw. The film also has an award winning soundtrack featuring some of the greatest music ever produced in Jamaica. This movie is credited with transforming the music and filming in Jamaica in the late 60s and early 70s.

The video you will watch includes footage of the first film screening at 10A, a special event was created where The Harder They Come was shown. Speeches were given by King Yellowman, Sally Henzell, Justine Henzell, Carl Bradshaw and Barbara Blake.
