Allowed Calcutta Tram Company to open tramline in 1908. Still .. New Howrah Bridge was not built. It was not possible to lay the line over the pontoon bridge. As a result, a central power generation station was set up at the intersection of Dobson Road and Golabari Road on the northern side of Howrah city... Two tram lines of 4 feet 8 and a half inches were laid in both directions of the northern section. Up to Shalkiya Bharaghat. On the other hand, on the south side of the city... there is a line of the same size. The southern line was opened on 10.06.1908. This line starts from Howrah Pool, goes over Buckland Bridge, passes Howrah Court and Maidan and ends at Keorapara Ghat, 2 miles. This is the Shivpur line. These two lines were built in 1908. There were two lines of trams running up to Howrah station... as public transport
