A few words about the great Soviet-Armenian composer Ghazaros (Lazar) Saryan - the Son of Martiros Saryan and a student of Dmitry Shostakovich.

On October 2, 2010, a concert of music by Edward Manukyan was organized by Armenia's Ministry of Culture to honor Ghazaros Saryan on his posthumous 90th birthday. In the current footage, Saryan's widow, musicologist Prof. Araksi Saryan introduces Edward Manukyan who then speaks about Saryan and his music. Ruzan Saryan, Ghazaros's daughter, provides the closing remarks.

The song end the end of the video is from Edward Manukyan's "Five Songs On Words by Russian Poets" cycle. It's called "It's You Who I Want, My Happiness" on words by Konstantin Balmont. It is performed by Lyndi Williams (soprano) and Katrin Hovsepyan (piano).

In the intervening footage Edward Manukyan talks with Svetlana Navasardyan, the legendary Armenian pianist, and composer Vardan Ajemyan, the head of the Composition Department at Komitas State Conservatory. Others present include the Saryan family (Araksi, Sofia, Katya, Ruzan Saryans), composers Ruben Sargsyan, Armenuhi Karapetyan, pianist Margarita Sargsyan, soprano Lyndi Williams, etc.
