Go Gently To Solitude (live acoustic) - Jason Allen

Описание к видео Go Gently To Solitude (live acoustic) - Jason Allen

A rain-on-the-window acoustic rendition of a song called Go Gently To Solitude, which was recorded on September 5th, 2024. The original version appears on the Borrowing Power From The Mill album, which was released in February 2024 under the guise of The Woodleigh Folk, my musical alter ego band thing.

You can visit The Woodleigh Folk channel to hear more thunderous dirges like this, plus a few toe-tapping songs about rivers, trees and birds. There's also a Ben Howard cover on there. Oooh, lucky! ;)    / @woodleighfolk

Song written by Jason Allen, March and October 2023. I managed to get a few lyrics a bit muddled up on this version, so I've posted the 'amended' words below. The pitfalls of getting older, along with dodgy ankles, scarecrow hair and gargoyle-like faces.

GO GENTLY TO SOLITUDE

This valley's a dream
A place in my heart and soul
Rain clouds above
With the sun on the ground

I walk alone
Down to the bridge I go
I won't walk across
I can't leave this for anything
I don't need escape
It's already here

Nowhere bound
I go gently to solitude found
On the wild side
All alone in the twilight
I stand here talking to myself

These days I'm alive
Wrapped up in memories
Keeping me warm
From the coldness of modern life

She'll meet me here then
When twilight in shades of grey
Descends to illuminate
The smiles on our faces

Homeward bound
We're moving gently
To solitude's sound
On the edge of the outside
Senses alive in the half light
Alone we stand side by side

And I won't say goodbye
And I can't let this die
And I won't say goodbye
And I won't let this die
