Dr. Mark Wentzel - Hydrologist, Texas Water Development Board: "I'm a hydrologist in the Surface Water Division. And one of my tasks is to keep track of drought conditions and water supply conditions on a statewide type basis and kind of see how we're doing. I wear two hats at the Board, a few hats. But one of the hats is the drought and talking about current water supply conditions. The other job I have is working on environmental needs of rivers and streams. And the planners want that information as well, as they look at what our future needs for our cities and for agriculture and for industry, what those might be. They also need to know, well, how much water do we need to plan to reserve for the environment to maintain the waterways and the ecosystems that we enjoy the benefits of right, today. And so part of my job is to identify what those needs might be for the environment over time. I love the work I do."
