DIY Popsicle Stick Fort Tutorial

Описание к видео DIY Popsicle Stick Fort Tutorial

This video gives a step-by-step tutorial guide for a DIY popsicle stick fort. After creating the popsicle stick tree house I wanted to try another one and thought the popsicle sticks make perfect planks that would be great for creating an ancient Roman type fort.

I first decided on the general size and got a super wood base. Next, drew out the general dimensions on the base and I started to assemble the walls. I created the gate house first which was raised off the ground using sushi chopsticks and had a small roof.

the next step was to create the fort walls. For the wall planks, I cut the one side of the popsicle stick flat and the other side pointed then glued them together using hot glue and PVA wood glue for extra strength.

However, before I glued the walls to the base I first created the four corner lookout towers which had a lookout post at the top and a raised platform below that would be the same heights wall walkway. The corners of the lookout towers were also made from sushi chopsticks which made perfect beams.

After creating all the corner towers and walls I glued these in place on the base. Next, I created the walkways for the walls, walkway support beams and miniature ladders. Lastly, I added some basic rock and plastic plant decorations around the outside of the fort.

This Roman fort took me about a week to make spending a hour or two at night. The components were strengthened by using wood glue. The plants and leaves are made from plastic aquarium plants which are screwed to the base so they won't be pulled off easily during play. Garden rocks are also used to add to the decorations which were simply glued to the base but these are less secure than the plants.

I think this design would be great to adapt for tabletop war-gaming community or scaled model dioramas and I hope you find this tutorial useful.
