The Note 8.0 is the successor to the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy Note 10.1. And in fact, one may call it a fusion of the Note 2 and the Note 10.1 simply because it is a tablet sized SMARTPHONE!

Why do I call the Galaxy Note 8.0 a smartphone?
For two reasons:
1. It has a SIM card slot, so you can insert a SIM card and start making calls and even access 3G networks for internet access.

2. The user interface is the same as that of a smartphone and not a regular tablet. There is a notification panel instead of a notification on the bottom right. There are in fact no controls at the bottom as you are used to seeing in a tablet.

The Note 8.0 display is an 8 inch regular TFT screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The resolution is enough to render crisp text and clarity, however, premium devices are now moving into the Full HD era.

Note 8.0 is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad core processor & 2 GB RAM. This combination makes the Note 8.0 extremely powerful and robust. There are no performance issues and no hang ups so far!

The OS running on the Note 8.0 is Android Jelly Bean and would soon be upgraded to Android 4.2.2. I am pretty sure it would also receive the Android 5.0 update and run it without any hassles.

The S Pen in the Note 8.0 is fairly thick and definitely provides for better grip. The writing experience, I believe, is slightly enhanced as compared to the Note 2. Obviously with a bigger slate size, writing is more fun and you can be more accurate with your stylus input.

There is a specially designed Reading Mode in the Note 8.0 notification panel that lets you perform special reading functions while you are reading content in the Readers Hub. You have the ability to highlight, change font size and font style, change background and text color, etc. When you highlight certain content, the Reader's Hub application automatically picks up the highlighted content and stores it all in one place for future reference. This makes storing important content in one convenient possible.
