May The Circle Be Unbroken - Spacemen 3 Cover

This cover was inspired by Spacemen 3's interpretation of this old gospel/folk-song which was first recorded by The Carter Family in 1927.
For me, the combination of the haunting sadness of the lyrics and the bluesy instrumentation with it's repetitive structure creates a ruminant, almost trance-inducing state.

When I played around with my 12 string guitar recently, the jangly sound, sent through a tremolo effect and a Fender Blues Junior amp, reminded me instantly of this song and led me to sing along.
