For several weeks a spectacular and unusual event has occurred at Race Point and Herring Cove Beach in Provincetown, MA. Huge numbers of small fish called menhaden were driven close to shore and thousands of Great Shearwaters followed. Great Shearwaters, pelagic birds, are usually seen only out at sea, but their unprecedented recent behavior has given birdwatchers the opportunity to see them up close!
