@Problems Identified in society
1. In our localities, especially in cities, open dustbins are commonly used. 2. Open dustbins can spread contagious diseases through flies, mosquitoes, and microbes. 3. They create bad odour and make the environment unhygienic. 4. When people throw waste in open bins, there is a chance of direct contact with germs
which can cause sickness. 5. This situation creates health hazards and affects the cleanliness of society. 6. Taps come in contact with germs when people wash their hands after throwing waste into
the dustbin.

@The benefits of our project are as follows :
1. When a person comes near the dustbin, the ultrasonic sensor detects the movement.
2. The servo motor automatically opens the lid without the need to touch the bin.
3. After waste is thrown, the lid closes automatically.
4. This ensures no direct contact with the dustbin, reducing the chances of infection.
5. The dustbin remains closed most of the time, preventing foul odour from spreading.
6. It helps to maintain hygiene and keeps the surroundings clean and safe.
7. This model can be used in public places, schools, hospitals, and homes for better waste management.
8. An automatic water dispenser fitted with an IR sensor and a mini water pump will help wash hands after throwing waste into the dustbin, without the need to turn the tap handle.
9. It is a simple, low-cost, and effective innovation for a healthier environment.

@Materials required
1. Dustbin with a lid.
2. Arduino Uno Microcontroller board
3. Ultrasonic Sensor (HC-SR04) – To detect the presence of a hand or object.
4. Servo Motor (SG90) – To automatically open and close the lid.
5. IR Sensor Module – to detect hand movement.
6. Mini Water Pump (DC 3V–12V) – to pump water.
7. Single Channel Relay Module – to act as a switch for the pump.
8. Jumper wires – For connections.
9. Rechargeable Battery (e.g., 9V Li-ion or 3.7V )as power supply.
10. Switch
11. Plastic Tube/Pipe – to connect the pump with the water outlet.
12. Container/Bottle/Reservoir – to store water.


@Conclusion _The project on Smart Dustbin and Automatic Water Dispenser successfully demonstrates how
simple electronic components can be used to design low-cost, user-friendly, and hygienic
systems. The Smart Dustbin automatically opens its lid with the help of an IR sensor when
waste is brought near, preventing direct contact and reducing the spread of germs. Similarly, the Automatic Water Dispenser allows water flow using a mini water pump controlled by a relay
and IR sensor, enabling hand washing without touching the tap. Both systems work effectively without the need for complex microcontrollers like Arduino, making them cost-efficient, easy to assemble, and highly practical for daily use in homes, schools, offices, and public places. This project highlights the importance of integrating basic
electronics into simple automation systems to promote hygiene, conserve resources, and
encourage smart living.
