Pentatonic Lyre Comparison- Handmade vs Mass Produced Lyre

My handmade pentatonic lyre is made from one solid piece of kiln-dried Ambrosia Maple. The dark streaks were originally caused by Ambrosia Beetles boring into the live wood while sap and moisture flowed through the fibers. These lyres can have a variety of coloration from piece to piece. I love this lyre because of it's rich, deep sound. It is light and easy to carry anywhere. It has since been my go to lyre since receiving it.

My mass produced pentatonic lyre is made by Donner. This lyre came with great package that includes spare string sets, picks, dust cloth and a wonderful well padded bag. It has a rich sound for a little thing but not as deep and well resonating as my handmade lyre. It is budget friendly and has a 30 day money back guarantee through Amazon. It is very light and portable and also great to take anywhere. It stays in tune for me now that I've had it for some time but the looseness of the pins means that I will need to reinforce this at some point similar to my other mass produced lyres to ensure it stays well and keep tune in tune down the road.
