Kelly Yu, born in Dalian and raised in Vancouver, moved to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music with a full scholarship. At the age of 4 she started playing piano, and when she was 9 she started playing guitar. At age 10, as soon as Kelly saw Joe Satriani playing "Cool #9" at the G3 concert, she knew immediately that electric guitar is the one for her, then she started pursuing her dream of becoming a rock guitarist. At age 17, She was invited onstage to play with Peter Frampton and his band and then later, with The Beach Boys. Kelly by now had been noticed by the CBC who singled her out as a very talented local guitar virtuoso.

In 2016, Kelly has uniquely become the first woman to gain a contract as an endorsing artist for famous guitar brand Ibanez. Deeply involved in her career as a musician, singer and songwriter, Kelly released her debut studio album "Spirits" in Taiwan on her 25th birthday, November 7, 2014, then she held her first solo concert in December the same year. Since then, she has won many music awards including the CMA Awards, the KKBOX Music Awards and the Global Hits.

Kelly's latest album "Intermezzo" was released in September 2021. As an actress, she made her North American debut in Roland Emmerich’s sci-fi film Moonfall in 2022.
