Baku 2015: Azerbaijan cracks down on free speech

The inaugural European Games are scheduled to kick off in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on 12 June. Yet the image of its inception has been set against a backdrop of arrests and the detention of a number of journalists, bloggers and human rights activists who are critical of the management of the project and human rights violations.
