Ode to the Sun I: Stepping into the River / Composed by Wang Dan Hong

The Chinese orchestral piece "Ode to the Sun" was developed based on folk materials from the Ba-Yu region. The work uses four movements, "Stepping into the River," "Carrying the Mountain," "Longing," and "Ode to the Sun," to showcase a beautiful and magnificent landscape painting of the Ba Mountains and Shu Waters. With a rich Ba-Yu style and cultural temperament, profound emotional connotations, and magnificent momentum, it displays the broad spirit of the working people's lives and their tenacious vitality.

The "Stepping into the River" movement is created based on the lives of boatmen and porters on both sides of the Yangtze River. The work not only expresses the human geography, customs, and natural scenery of the Yangtze River, but also reveals the fierce struggles of the boatmen and porters who use their blood, sweat, and lives to battle the treacherous waters and dangerous rapids. It showcases the fighting spirit of the laboring people of the Yangtze River region, who are unyielding in the face of the harsh natural environment, and the rough and bold character features with humor.
