How to make Alberta Spruce (Christmas tree) bonsai forest.

Alberta Spruce trees are pretty common at garden centers, especially around this time of year. They are also what people use as Christmas trees for the holidays. We've been asked many times before if you can bonsai a Christmas tree. The answer is absolutely and Robert found these trees at a local nursery back in August. It's regular nursery stock and anybody can create a bonsai.

Most spruce trees grow vertically up and tend to be a formal upright when turned into a bonsai if it's a single tree. You can also gather a few spruce trees and create a bonsai forest for more character. In this video, Robert goes into detail on how to create an Alberta Spruce bonsai forest. He uses a shallow marble plate that is often used in Chinese Penjing and explains in detail how to create a penjing forest using these materials.
