Ami Yamuna Puline is composed by Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura
In this passage, the Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, filled with devotion, describes a vision of Lord Krishna in a Kadamba grove by the Yamuna River, playing His flute and surrounded by His divine consort, Radha, and the eight chief gopis. They are engaged in transcendental pastimes, likened to a nectar waterfall. The gopis, through their sweet songs and dance, please Krishna and Radha. After that, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura expresses a deep desire to renounce worldly attachments and join Krishna’s divine pastimes in the forest, abandoning fears and family ties as a humble offering of devotion, as Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura exemplifies.
(āmi) jamunā-puline, kadamba-kānane, ki herinu sakhī! āja
(āmār) śyāma vaḿśīdhārī, maṇi-mañcopari, kare’ līlā rasarāja (1)
Oh sakhi! My dear girlfriend! What have I seen today? In a kadamba grove on the banks of the Yamuna, a beautiful blackish boy holding a long flute (vamsi) is seated upon a throne of jewels, performing His pastimes as the King of all transcendental mellows!
kṛṣṇa-keli sudhā-prasravana
(tāra) aṣṭa-dalopari, śrī rādhā śrī hari, aṣṭa-sakhī parijana (2)
Situated upon the eight petals of the jeweled altar is Sri Radha and Sri Hari surrounded by Their attendants, the eight chief gopis. There Krsna performs His amorous pastimes which are just like a waterfall of nectar.
(tāra) sugīta-nartane, saba sakhī-gaṇe, tuṣiche yugala-dhane
(takhon) kṛṣṇa-līlā heri’, prakṛti-sundarī, vistāriche śobhā vane (3)
By singing sweet songs and by dancing nicely, all the gopis satisfy the treasured Divine Couple. Thus I am beholding Krsna's pastimes with His beautiful female consorts expanding throughout the splendorous forest.
(āmi) ghare nā jāiba, vane praveśiba, o līlā-rasera tare
(āmi) tyaji’ kula-lāja, bhaja vraja-rāja, vinoda minati kare (4)
For the sake of the mellows of such pastimes, I will not go to my home, but I will instead enter into the forest. Renouncing all shyness due to fear of family members, just worship the Lord of Vraja. This is the humble submission of Bhaktivinoda.
